British Rowing Masters Champs 2027
The following is a request for feedback on possible changes to Masters Champs for 2027 – the Organising Committee will meet in October and your views will help shape their thinking. Please consider dropping a comment on this post, or feedback to Amanda Hosking, our regional Masters Rep.
As you know, BRMC has been oversubscribed for the past two years. It is super news as it means our sport is growing and the event is popular. It is rotten news as it means there are some crews turned away, and there is little to no ‘give’ in the schedule should something happen such as a thunderstorm and the resultant delays.
One idea to build in some increased capacity to the event is to hold some racing on the Friday afternoon. It is thought that perhaps this could be for competitors in Age Band G, H, I, J, K and L/M as it is more likely that these competitors would be retired.
Please give your views so the event team can have as much info as possible
a) what you think about this – would this be a good solution
b) if necessary would you take time off work to race on Friday afternoon
c) could your equipment needed to race get there by late morning on Friday
d) could you still volunteer on Friday afternoon (timing, finish tower, medals, welfare)
Of course, Nat Vets used to be an interval in the middle of Loughborough Regatta, and Henley Masters used to be a one-day event, then a 1.5 day event, then a 2 day event and now a three-day event. It is great to see our sport growing!
