The newly formed Rowing Committee is responsible for providing strategic oversight, policy direction on behalf of the Board, and guidance on all aspects of the sport, including participation, competition, and athlete development. It also acts as a representative body for engaging with the wider rowing community.
Regional Representatives recently elected Luke Dillon to be Chair of this new body. An Explainer has been published setting out the purpose of the Rowing Committee, the approach to member selection, and the expected ways of working. It is intended to support discussion with divisional representatives, regional chairs, and the chairs of the racing and community committees as the new structure is established.
The Rowing Committee will operate as a Board sub-commttiee with a remit across all British Rowing
activities. Its role is to bring informed community expertise into strategy, governance, policy
development and the consideration of proposals that may affect the sport nationally.
The make up of the Committee will include ‘General Members’ appointed through an open recruitment based on a skills matrix.
Please can clubs, events and individuals consider putting forward names of those who have the skills and energy to take the sport forward and, when appropriate contact Helen Middleton, Regional Chair on this email address.
For much more detail on the role, the Committee, its purpose and the place within the structure of the sport please see the Explainer document.
