Key elections at British Rowing

Elections for two important posts were held on Tuesday 24th, resulting in the appointment of two new people to the Board of British Rowing

The first of these posts is that of the (first) Chair of the new Rowing Committee . The Committee will be responsible for providing strategic oversight, policy direction on behalf of the Board, and guidance on all aspects of the sport, including participation, competition, and athlete development. It also acts as a representative body for engaging with the wider rowing community.

Regional Representatives have chosen Luke Dillon to take this role, with our own Seb Walker a very close second. Luke is very well respected in the sport having been a Regional Rep and Chair of Thames Region. Luke is currently Chair of the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta and Secretary of the Metropolitan Amateur Regatta, and he has been a member of the Committee of Management at Henley Royal Regatta since 2021.

At the same set of elections Regional Representatives chose Martha Nutkins as Non-Executive Director on the Board of British Rowing. The Board governs the strategy and direction of BR and it is important to have representatives of the rowing community on it.

Martha is currently Captain of Derby RC and, in addition to her strong work CV, won British Rowing’s 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding work to help grow and diversify the club and its membership.

The region very much looks forward to working with Luke and Martha as they take the sport forward.
