Limited return to the water – guidance on 12th May

Following the publication of the UK Government’s COVID-19 recovery strategy on 11 May, British Rowing has updated its advice to all Affiliated Clubs and Events and detailed the rationale behind these decisions.

Rowing in privately owned boats from publicly available access is now possible, subject to Government rules on social distancing, adhering to local waterways regulation and with an accompanying risk assessment.

However, it is recommended that Clubs themselves should remain CLOSED and that this includes the use of shared surfaces, such as equipment or facilities such as boat bay doors or landing stages.

There full guidance is available from the British Rowing website here, including guidance on the use of coaching launches, the rationale behind each of the recommendations and the application of the Government’s own indicated timeline to our sport’s activities.

Clubs that have queries arising from this should mail Andrew Blit in the first instance
