BR Advice March 17th

In response to the latest public guidance and information British Rowing have issued the following advice to Affiliated Club today, March 17th – the full statement is available here

Update on March 19th here

It would be very helpful for Clubs to know what measures others are taking. If you are able to, please describe your Club’s considerations in the Comments at the foot of this post.

“There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to our Affiliated Clubs as the activities and facilities in each one differ.  We recommend that each club reviews their various activities and their associated risk in line with the Government advice. Clubs may wish to consider:

  • reducing the risk profile – for example:
    • limiting or stopping social gatherings
    • enhancing cleaning measures
    • limiting or stopping indoor activities
    • considering how many people are required on site to safely deliver any activity
    • not allowing any visitors
    • considering which of your members may be at higher risk
  • considering which of your member may be at higher risk
    • reducing the group size – for example:
    • staggering training times
    • moving ergos outdoors
    • utilising more cross training at or away from the club”

Moreover, with the Government closing schools across the country from 23 March 2020, this in turn stops school rowing programmes.  Clubs with junior rowing programmes need to continue to follow Government advice and guidance set out above.
